Explanations:
The record displayed above is for a
Spark in the Skipper handbook. The Hiker and Climber
records will look very similar, but will have a
different number of boxes in the "Sections" area of the
record. Each record has a header on it with the year,
group and handbook that it is designed for.
Name: print the Clubber's
full name large and neat so that it can be easily read.
Print it on both sides of the record.
Top
Leader: print the name of
the Leader whose group the Clubber belongs to, again
large and neat and on both sides.
Top
Sunday School
Attendance: Place an X in the box over the date
that corresponds to the date of the current AWANA
meeting you are taking attendance for. If the Clubber
went to Sunday School, Bible Study, etc. the Sunday
previous to this AWANA meeting, then put an X over the
date. The date on the record will be the date of the
meeting you are currently in. Marking an X on this date
says the Clubber attended Sunday School, Bible Study,
etc. the Sunday previous to this meeting. We do not ask
for proof of attendance. Take the Clubber's word as
proof. The Clubber does not have to attend Sunday
School, etc. at FBT; they can attend at their own
church. The SS-1 and SS-2 boxes are for Sunday School
attendance awards and are usually handled by the Group
Secretary.
Top
Date / Initials: This
date is the date the award was given to the Clubber.
The initials are the initials of the Leader who gave the
award. This will almost always be the Group Secretary
who fills in the date and initials.
Top
AWANA Attendance:
Place an X in the box over the date that corresponds to
the date of the current AWANA meeting you are taking
attendance for. The ATT-1 through ATT-4 are usually
handled by the Group Secretary and are for tracking when
the award was given. 4 attendance awards are given
throughout the AWANA year.
Top
Sections:
It is very important that you
be accurate in maintaining this section.
It will directly affect what awards the Clubber is given
and they work hard for them - so please take a few extra
minutes to make sure it is correctly filled out. Note
that the AWANA handbook has explicit instructions in it
about how the book should be completed and you should
become familiar with it. Each line under "Sections"
corresponds to a grouping of sections in the Clubber's
handbook. There are exactly the same number of boxes on
each line as there are sections in each group. For
example, there are 6 sections in the Entrance test,
there are 9 sections in Red Jewel 3, etc. As the
Clubber completes each section, the Leader must write
the month/day in the appropriate box. For example, if
the Clubber completes Red Jewel 3, section 4 on
September 20th, then a 9/20 should be written into the
4th box (under the column heading 4) on the "Red Jewel
3" line. Many of the boxes have a diagonal line through
them (the diagonal does not show up on this screen but
is on the paper record). The boxes with diagonal lines
through them are written in twice: once on the left of
the diagonal for the first time the Clubber says the
section and the 2nd time on the right of the diagonal
when the Clubber says the same section when they are
going through handbook review. An example would be 9/20
/ 11/5 in a single box with a diagonal separating the
two dates. If there is no diagonal line through a box,
that means that the section is not to be reviewed (not
all sections are reviewed during handbook review).
When a Clubber has completed all sections on the row
(all boxes have dates in them), then it is time for them
to receive an award. The boxes were exactly matched to
the number of sections to remind you as the Leader that
it is time for an award. The record should be placed on
the left side of your manila folder which holds all your
Clubber's records and handed in to the Group Secretary.
The Group Secretary will be looking for records on the
left side knowing that this means that an award is due.
This helps them quickly scan the folders to see which
Clubbers should be getting awards. If the Clubber has
no award due, then place the record on the right side of
your folder before handing it in.
Top
Review Island: read
the Clubber's AWANA Handbook notes in the Review Island
area carefully. It depends on what grade and book the
Clubber is in as to whether they do the Review Island or
not or if they should go on to another book. If you get
confused by the notes in the Clubber's handbook, the
Parent/Clubber Handbook has a matrix spelling out
exactly what to do for each grade and situation. The
FBT Parent/Clubber Handbook is available on the FBT
website in .PDF format (need the free Adobe Acrobat
reader to view and print it).
