Notes for Parents
(Updated 8/31/2008)
Below are some notes that I would like to highlight for parents about our AWANA Club. Please feel free to discuss any of these items with me.
· The FBT AWANA Club uses only the King James Version of the AWANA Handbooks and AWANA materials.
· There is a dress code for AWANA Club that can be found under the section “Dress Code” of the FBT AWANA Parent/Clubber Handbook. I want to emphasize that there are no short pants for boys or girls allowed in the AWANA Club. The gym and classrooms are all air conditioned.
· Once a Club member has earned their uniform, they must be in uniform during AWANA meetings. No awards will be given to a member not in uniform except under special situations.
· During the winter months, you may call the FBT Main Office at 703-323-8100 for cancellations due to weather and check the FBT website at www.fbtministries.org.
· There is an AWANA Parent/Clubber Handbook that is found on the FBT website at www.fbtministries.org. Follow the links to the AWANA information. You may also download and print it for reference. This handbook has details on how the FBT AWANA Club is conducted and can also answer many questions about handbooks, awards, etc.
· During the year, there is a requirement in the handbooks for Club members in K5 – 6th grade to invite someone to AWANA Club. It is intended to reinforce the fact that the Lord wants us to actively share the Gospel with others. There are alternatives to inviting others that may be employed only after the Clubber has made two attempts to invite someone. These alternatives are also designed to emphasize the sharing of the Gospel with others. Some examples are attending an FBT Gospel Blitz or bringing a visitor to a Church service among others. This requirement must be fulfilled before a Clubber can finish their handbook. Any alternatives not on the list must be approved by the AWANA Commander. You will find details on this requirement under “Alternatives to Bringing a Friend to Club” section of the AWANA Parent/Clubber Handbook and I encourage you to read it.
· We understand busy schedules and the fact that it is sometimes difficult to get your young folks to AWANA Club on time. Any effort in this area would be greatly appreciated. If possible, please try to have your children to Club by 6:40pm so they have time to line up before the 6:45pm start time. Please be prompt in picking them up at the 8:30pm closing time.
Respectfully,
Mark Varricchione
FBT AWANA Commander
